Safety & care

The Rubaris Recovery Pod, Recovery Mat and LED Face Mask are consumer wellness devices — not medical devices, and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, monitor or alleviate any disease, injury or medical condition. They are for general wellness, relaxation and personal self-care, and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. This page applies to every Rubaris device, including any device you receive as a gift with your order. Please read all instructions, warnings and safety information before use.

Before you use it

Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before use if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding;
  • have a medical condition;
  • have a skin condition or reduced skin sensitivity;
  • have an eye condition or light sensitivity;
  • take any medication or use skincare products that may increase sensitivity to light — this includes some antibiotics, acne medications and retinoid creams, some diuretics and antihistamines, and herbal supplements such as St John’s Wort. If you take regular medication and are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist before use;
  • have recently had surgery or a medical procedure;
  • have cancer, a history of skin cancer, or suspicious skin lesions;
  • have epilepsy or sensitivity to flashing light;
  • have an implanted electronic medical device or other implanted medical device;
  • are unsure whether light exposure is suitable for you.

If you have epilepsy or are sensitive to flashing light, do not use pulsing mode unless a qualified healthcare professional has confirmed it is suitable for you.

Protect your eyes

The LEDs are bright and intense.

Do not stare directly into the LEDs while the device is on.

Part of the light is invisible. The device also emits near-infrared light that the eye cannot see, so the LEDs can be intense even when the visible glow looks dim or partly off. Never look into the LEDs to check whether the device is working — treat it as fully on whenever it is powered.

When using the Recovery Pod or Recovery Mat, wear the protective goggles included in the box and keep your eyes closed during use. If you have an eye condition, recent eye surgery, retinal sensitivity, or concerns about light exposure, seek medical advice before use.

The LED Face Mask has contoured silicone shields around the eye area. Even so, keep your eyes closed for the entire session, and never look directly into the LEDs — before, during or after fitting the mask.

Stop using the device if you experience eye pain, visual disturbance, headache, dizziness or discomfort. If eye symptoms do not settle quickly after stopping, seek medical advice promptly.

Using the device safely

Use the device only as instructed in the user manual.

Start with shorter sessions and increase use gradually only if comfortable.

Use the built-in timer. Do not leave the device running unattended.

Do not use the device while sleeping.

Do not use the device on broken, irritated, infected, burned or recently treated skin.

Take care when using the device over tattoos, permanent makeup or areas of dark pigmentation. Pigmented skin can absorb more light energy and may warm faster than the surrounding skin — shorten the session, check the area regularly, and stop if it feels unusually warm or irritated.

Do not use the device if you cannot feel heat or discomfort normally, unless a qualified healthcare professional has confirmed it is suitable.

Stop use immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, overheated, nauseous, unusually tired, or notice skin irritation, redness, burning, blistering or discomfort. If symptoms do not settle soon after stopping, or if you are concerned, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional — and do not use the device again until they have confirmed it is suitable for you.

The surface may feel gently warm during use. This can be normal. Even gentle warmth can irritate or mark the skin if the same area stays in direct contact for a long time — follow the session times in the user manual, and end the session if any area of skin feels too warm. Excessive heat, burning smell, visible damage, electrical noise, sparks, smoke or unusual operation is not normal. If this occurs, turn the device off, unplug it and stop using it.

Heat and ventilation

  • Keep vents, controller areas and power components clear during use.
  • Do not cover the device with blankets, pillows, clothing or other insulating materials while it is operating.
  • Do not fold, crease, compress or store the device while it is switched on or still warm.
  • Do not place heavy objects on the device.
  • Do not puncture, cut, bend sharply or force the device into a shape it is not designed to take.
  • Allow the device to cool before folding, packing or storing.

Electrical safety

  • Use only the supplied power adapter and approved accessories provided with your Rubaris device.
  • The supplied adapter is rated for 100–240 V. Check that your local power supply and plug connection are suitable before use.
  • Do not use third-party adapters, damaged cables, travel converters or extension setups that are not suitable for the product.
  • Keep the controller, adapter, plug and electrical connections away from water and moisture.
  • Do not use the device in the bath, shower, sauna, wet room, outdoors in rain, or near pools, sinks or other water sources.
  • Inspect the device, cable, controller, adapter and plug before each use.
  • Do not use the device if any part is damaged, frayed, cracked, exposed, loose, wet, overheating or operating abnormally.
  • Unplug the device when not in use, before cleaning, before storage and before inspecting cables or connectors.
  • Do not attempt to open, repair, modify or disassemble the device yourself.

Cleaning

  • Turn the device off and unplug it before cleaning.
  • Wipe the light surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, alcohol-heavy cleaners, abrasive pads, bleach, solvents or oils unless specifically approved in the user manual.
  • Do not submerge or immerse the device, controller, adapter, plug or cables.
  • Allow the device to dry fully before use, folding or storage.

Storage

  • Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct heat, sunlight, moisture and sharp objects.

Children and pets

This product is not a toy.

  • Keep the device, cables, adapter, packaging and small parts away from children and pets.
  • Rubaris devices are intended for use by adults. Do not use the device on babies or young children, and do not allow children to use it as a toy or unsupervised.
  • If you are considering use by anyone under 18, speak with a qualified healthcare professional first and supervise the entire session.
  • Do not allow children or pets to lie on, chew, pull, fold, cover or play with the device or cables.

Use the Rubaris Recovery Pod, Recovery Mat and LED Face Mask only for their intended consumer wellness purpose and only according to the instructions provided.
